The mission of our program is to focus on developing and refining the technical and tactical abilitites of our players to enable them to become better players. We also promote good sportsmanship and provide a family oriented environment, to help the girls become better people, not justbetter soccer players. Through dedication and hard work, our girls continue to excel beyond our expectations, both on and off the field.
History
The Crush team first came to be as an independent team known as “The Tiggers” in 1997. At that time, it was a couple of dads who had soccer experience and were “coaching”, as best they could 4 year old little girls. As time went on, those little girls evolved into skilled players, and the coaching needs intensified. These girls also had sisters which formed the basis and the need for a second team. Both teams evolved into very competitive independent teams. Indeed, there were many seasons where the Crush/Tiggers teams were the only independent teams competing at the premier level ( the most competitive level the league offered). Over the last 12 years, the foundation of the coaching staff has remained the same, with Jack Guenther being there from the beginning, and Tony Sgro joining one year later. Some of the players and parents have been with us for over 10 years.
With the competition becoming ever increasing, additions have been made to provide the best possible learning environment for the girls. Technical skills, fitness and team concepts are now specialty areas where coaches have been added as necessary to help the girls perfect their skill sets.
As an independent team, our girls have accomplished many goals. In 2004, our FC93 team won first place in the extended season of SSGSL. This same season, our FC97 Orange team received the “Best Sportsmanship Award”. In 2007, The FC93 team qualified for the final round of the Nevada State Cup. During that same year, the FC97 Orange completed their season undefeated as well as finishing first in a tournament without losing one game. Currently, all of our FC93 players play for their respective high school soccer teams, some of which played on varsity and most of which participated in this years’ high school playoffs.
We have now decided to provide our learning environment to a broader base of female athletes, while keeping within the confines of the structure we have created.
